Happy Late Mothers Day

Hello again everyone!
I am so sorry but again last night I got in and I was so exhausted from a long day shopping in Westfield with my mum.

The day started pretty well when we actually left the house on time for once and managed to drop my brothers at the rugby club exactly on time! After that we hit the road to London and didn't look back.

The shops in Westfield don't open until 12pm but we arrived at 11:30 so we chilled in the smallest Pret A Manger I have every been in. We managed to kill 15 minutes in there but got cold and bored so we moved onto the posh part of the mall called The Village which is full of shops just for really rich people. There were shops like Jimmy Choo and Gucci so we felt really out of place when we were just strolling through.

The day was just a normal shopping trip so we spent a long time in a quite a few shops and I don't need to bore you with any details. But in the end I just ended up buying the most adorable pair of summery/beach shorts that I love and will definitely wear lots! They are pair of white and blue flowery shorts from H and M if you are interested. I would advise that you don't get too excited- if I give fashion advice there is a good chance I am very wrong or have no idea what words are leaving my mouth.

I also picked up some cute long vest tops that are really see through but when you put them together they are super sweet (and not see through!). Apart from that it was just a few essentials like liner socks and plain black leggings.

On a different note the weather was amazing all weekend which just made an already perfect weekend even perfecter!

Sorry for a really short post but it was mothers day and I'm not going to share everything.
Thanks anyway for reading and I love you all xxxxxxxxxxx

D of E Practice

So this is the first practice walk for D of E and it went alright but it could definitely have gone better!

I was really excited for this walk so I got up at about 7:30am and was ready to leave half an hour early. I was left with literally nothing to do for what seemed like eternities while unpacking and repacking my bag a million billion trillion times just to make sure I had everything-I am a worrier and I get quite anxious that I have forgotten something or will get in trouble and attract too much unwanted attention to myself. (yet I am still the least organised person I know!!!!!)

When I arrived I was the last person there as well as being there just in time to hear the briefing before we were sent off with a supervisor to do a warm up activity in which we had to run around and find a specific pole with a number and letter on it. (aka orienteering) I'm in a group with some friends but we spent so much time dawdling we thought we would be the last back. Fortunately we weren't and the group that got back last arrived back after everyone else had left for the main activity.

The main activity of the morning was the same as the warm up apart from we were on our own and we had to go around and find a maximum of 25 different poles. Apart from they couldn't just let it be that simple! For every pole you found and recorded you got 10 points, every time you were caught running you lost 10 points and we had a deadline time to get back by and for every minute you were late you lost five points.

So off we went with our map and compass (and pen to record the poles) to find our first pole. We found it almost immediately so moved straight onto number two. We didn't have much trouble finding the poles for next hour and a half.

Until this time we hadn't seen another adult or teacher from our school but we hadn't really noticed because we are quite an independent group so we just got on with it. Anyway we had just found our 7th or 8th pole and had reached a corner where two of the teachers were sat having a good old chin wag. One of the teachers saw us and ran off in chase of another group that were a few hundred metres ahead while the other teacher just totally ignored us. Rude!

About five minutes later we caught up with that other group and the path was too narrow to go past them so we had to slow right down and go at the same speed as them which was very frustrating as they were going less that 1km/ph. This went on for about 10 minutes until the teacher turned around and said that we had to take a different route to our pre-planned one (that he had checked and said was okay and that we were duly following!) just to make sure we weren't being lazy and following his group.

Much to our disgust we had no choice in the matter so we had to turn right off our route to go and find a different pole first. This took us through a couple of fields and a small bit of woodland. By this time we had only 10 minutes left yet we were about 1km away from the start point.

We really couldn't find this rogue pole so we gave up and checked the map to see were we were and where we should be heading. We collected our bearings and started to head back to where we thought was the start point although we had totally misjudged it so we ended up on some road in the middle of nowhere next to a field of alpacas. We weren't even sure if the road we had been heading down was on the map we had been provided with.

At the start of the walk we had been given an emergency number to phone the lead teacher in case of an emergency (never!) and we decided that we were lost enough to start to call it an emergency. Luckily the teacher knew exactly where we were so he came and rescued us from certain death! (*sarcasm*)

When we got back all of us got off the minibus rather sheepishly as all the parents and other groups were staring at us. We had really made a huge show of ourselves that fine day to be honest! Hopefully now though we have made all our mistakes so that we an learn from them and improve for the walks when it really matters and nobody will be able to rescue us in a minibus.

So I hope you enjoyed this entry and me totally making a fool of myself. I really apologise for it being a day late but I had such a full day yesterday that I was just so wacked out by the evening the blog would have been rubbish and I would have been very disappointed by the end result.

My Sunday blog is coming out sometime tomorrow so watch out for that. Next week things are a bit more back to normal so there is just one post on Saturday but I have already planned it so it should be a good 'un!

Thanks for reading and I love you all
Goodbye!

I'm Back!

Hello everyone!

I know I said that I would do one post a week but it has almost been two weeks since my last post and I have a pretty packed weekend coming up so I am hoping to get in three blogs and lots of pictures so hope you enjoy!

Last weekend I went down to Guildford-which by the way is amazing for a good shopping day out- and went to loads of different shops including Jack Wills and Monsoon.

It was quite an early start for a Saturday as I got up earlier than I do for most school days but I got into Guildford at a good time so I could use as much of the day as possible! I went into Claire's first because it was at the closest end of the high street and I was feeling lazy so I didn't want to walk too far to the first shop. I got a couple of nice rings from there that I would upload pictures of but they were very fuzzy and not worth your while. At the moment there is a really good sale on at Claire's which is up to 75% of so I managed to grab 5 rings for under a £5 which was definitely the best deal of the day.

After that I went pretty much straight across the road to an Accessorize which I can never stop myself from going into because they have my favourite selection of necklaces and bags which is pretty random but I think it is always nice to have a good selection of bags-even if you hardly ever use half of them! Connected to the Accessorize was a Monsoon which I also really like because at the moment they have a really nice collection of sunglasses but unfortunately they only had large ones left so that was a disappointment. :(

Then I made a beeline to the Jack Wills a bit further up the road. I had somehow missed that shop all the other times I had been to Guildford but I noticed it this time and darted straight in. I am a self confessed Jack Wills-aholic and when I saw one of the women checking through new shoes that had come in I fell immediately in love with the pink pumps in the picture above. They were a bargain for under £40 and I am trying to keep them for best so as a result I have only managed to wear them a couple of times.

I didn't have much money to spend that day and those lovely's up there took up most of my allowance although I still manage to get to Blott and Waterstones because I am weirdo that is into stationary and books. I got two books from Waterstones:
- 'How to be Invisible' which is about a boy who moves to remote town in the country side. While there he goes into a book shop and finds a book which teaches him how to be invisible. It is really good because it basically says adults aren't always who they say they are-which is quite true. I really liked it because it has quite a serious message but fantasy is involved as well to make it a bit more light hearted.
-'Geek Girl Model Misfit' which is about a geek (never!) who is approached to be a model. It is the sequel to the book 'Geek Girl' and if that book is anything to go by then this book should have me in fits of laughter and tears at the sad bits.

I have rambled on about books more than anything else but reading is important I guess. (?!?!)
Really hope you enjoyed this because I have got another blog planned for tomorrow and Sunday that is going to hopefully be way more interesting but I won't give anything away.
I love you all for reading all the way to the end, hope you come back over the next few days to check out some hopefully more exciting blogs and pictures of my days out!
Goodbye until tomorrow!

Hello!

                                              Hello!

This is my first blog and the reason I am doing it is I wanted to keep a record of all the things I am doing this year so I hope you enjoy!

This for me is a very good year because I have a lot going on such as D of E and German Exchange. D of E stands for Duke of Edinburgh, which is an award challenge many young people across England take on. There are four sections to D of E:
- Volunteering
- Physical (A fancy name for sport basically!)
- Skill (such as an instrument or something)
- An assessed expedition (where you walk about 28-30km over a two day period with two or three other girls and two or three other boys)

The expedition is an essential part of the challenge and I am doing my walk in June. The other three parts you have to do one for six months and two for three months with an equivalent of one hour a week. I think for my physical I am going to do Judo and this is going to be the one I do for six months as I already do it and I know that I will be able to achieve one hour a week. For my skill I am going to do fire cadets which is where you learn what sort of things that real fire fighters learn and you mess around with ladders and hoses.

For my volunteering I was going to work in a charity shop with my friend but she said it wouldn't be very interesting and if we are going to commit we might as well find something we can really enjoy so unfortunately she dropped out. I think she had a good point and I am going to look for something else I can do that will interest me a bit more.

As well I mentioned German Exchange which I will also be doing this year after D of E in late July and early June. My exchange has already been to visit me and I hope she a great time because I certainly did! I think I managed to fit in a lot more in that one week than I would normally in a month just so I could show her as much of where I live and the things we have in England that they don't have in Germany as I could. I will be going to visit her and her family in Halle Saale and hope that I can have as much fun over there as I had when she came over here.

I will hopefully be writing a little entry every week and keeping you updated on all the stuff that is happening in my year. Hopefully I might be able to get some vlogs up on youtube later in the year when I am doing my expedition and when I am in Germany so I will post about those and you can take a quick look.

Goodbye until next Saturday!
